    Stage 2 Competency Claim

    Stage 2 Competency Claim Service

Our professional writers and experts have many years of experience writing several Stage 2 competencies for claim documents. If you plan to apply for a Stage 2 competency claim, you have to provide your previously submitted CDR Report and CV for the service. If you have any additional experience after submitting your CDR, it is required and added to this document. If you haven’t submitted your CDR, you will be asked a few questions related to your professional experience for writing more substantial claims.

EA Stage 2 Competency Assessment reflects the professionals’ experience, expertise, engineering ability, professional level of working practice, and optimistic attitudes. The applicant must complete a Competency Standard Stage 2 assessment phase to obtain the Chartered Status of Professional Engineer. The Stage-2 competency tests or charter standard denotes personal engineering competency certification. A Chartered Engineering Specialist is often regarded as having achieved the highest level of expertise by continued practice. Engineers Australia needs engineers to demonstrate professional competency in leadership, expertise, performance, and safety to be registered as Charter Engineer.

    stage 2 Skill Assessment

What is Stage 2 Competency Standard?

Stage 2 Competency Standard refers to the certification of personal engineering competency. It is the depth of knowledge and skill base, engineering application capabilities, values, and attributes of the profession that must be demonstrated to practice independently and unsupervised as an Engineering professional in Australia. These standards are used as the basis of assessment for Chartered membership of Engineers Australia (CPEng) and registration on the National Engineering Register (NER). A Chartered Professional Engineer is considered to achieve the highest level of engineering professionalism through practice. It is a professional credential known by the government, business, and the general public throughout the world. The achievement of CPEng status brings a lifelong obligation to maintain a certain level of competence in the given area.

    Four units

Four units for stage 2 competency claim

There are four units to be considered while applying for a stage 2 competency claim. They are personal commitment, an obligation to the community, values followed at the workplace, and technical proficiency.

This unit of competence requires you to demonstrate:

    • How are you going to deal with ethical issues when they arise
    • How are you going to develop and define your areas of competence
    • How are you going to display a personal sense of responsibility for your work?

There will be a change in the ‘community’ by depending on the nature of the work you are doing. It can be anyone like a client, general public, students, regulatory authorities, and your employer. This unit of competence requires you to demonstrate how you:

    • Deliver safe and sustainable solutions
    • Define the community and consider the community benefits at various stages of engineering activities (within the context of your work)
    • Identify and manage the risks associated with the engineering activities
    • Incorporation of legal and regulatory requirements into your solution

    • Collaborate and work with others
    • Work within an organization to provide value for stakeholders
    • Initiate, plan, lead or manage and secure financial and other material resources to support engineering activities.
    • Apply your professional judgment.

This unit of competency requires you to demonstrate how you:

    • Analyze problems and develop creative and innovative solutions
    • Evaluate the outcomes and impacts of engineering activities.
    Stage 2 Standard

Structure of the Stage 2 Standard

The structure of the Stage 2 Competency Standard is divided into two parts. They are Part A: The competencies and Part B: The Standards

    Part A: The Competencies

There are fourteen units or significant areas where three of them are core units common to every area of engineering practice, and eleven are elective units from which the candidates select two units that are suitable to their specific field of practice. Those are listed below:

    • C1 Engineering Practice
    • C2 Engineering Planning and Design
    • C3 Self-Management in the Engineering Workplace
    • E1A Engineering Business Management or
    • E1B Engineering Project Management
    • E2 Engineering Operations
    • E3 Materials/Components/Systems
    • E4A Environmental Management or
    • E4B Investigation and Reporting
    • E5 Research, Development and Commercialization
    • E6 Sourcing and Estimating Materials
    • E7 Change and Technical Development
    • E8 Technical Sales and Promotion
    • E9 Engineering Education

Each Unit consists of several elements. There is a sequence of activities, or results capable of being measured, describing ways of demonstrating the Element, within each Element, these are called Defining Activities. If the candidates have successfully performed most or all of the defining activities, then an element can be demonstrated. A Core Unit can be demonstrated by showing all Elements within the Unit by the candidates. An Elective Unit can be demonstrated by demonstrating the stipulated Elements within the Unit.

    Part B: The Standards

Each occupational category has a separate standard. The standards reflect the description of respective roles. They are summarized in the sections like Professional Engineers, Engineering Technologists, Engineering Associates

Professional Engineers are responsible for engineering projects. There are many essential tasks they handle like risk management, solution development for severe problems, confirming that technical and non-technical considerations are properly integrated or not.

The engineering technologists are concerned about technical project management. They mostly are specialized in the theory and practice of specific engineering branches and its application, adaptation, and control in a variety of contexts.

The engineering associates check or look over the application of recognized standards and codes of practice in familiar as well as unfamiliar conditions. They are involved in the practical execution of engineering work or the conduct of engineering operations.

    Assessment

    Assessment against Stage 2 Standards

The process starts with inviting the candidates to apply for the assessment in one of the occupational categories of engineering discipline. You should choose an occupational category according to your qualifications, experience, and achievements. The components of the assessments are as follow:

    • Has the Stage 1 competency been demonstrated by the candidate through accredited or recognized qualification, or otherwise? If a candidate does not hold an accredited or recognized qualification in the concerned category, and has not otherwise formally demonstrated Stage 1 competency, he/she should apply for Stage 1 assessment first. In certain cases, it may be possible to undertake Stage 1 and Stage 2 assessments simultaneously; advice should be sought before proceeding.
    • Has each of the Units of Competency been demonstrated in Part A (the three Core Units along with two Elective Units) by performing most or all of the Defining Activities?
    • Has the candidate demonstrated the Units to the Standard set out in Part B, for the concerned category of occupation?
    • In the context of this occupational category, has the demonstration of each Unit been: Strong, Satisfactory, Weak and Not acceptable (insufficient and needing further development, or no evidence provided)? These factors are used to assess whether or not a candidate has demonstrated Stage 2 competency in the chosen occupational category or not.
